EKITI: APC youths allege neglect by Buhari over appointment

Again, suit seeking to declare Buhari medically unfit hits court

Ekiti All Progressives Congress Youth Congress (EAYC) has frowned at President Muhammadu Buhari’s reported appointment of one Olasoji Akodu from the state as the coordinator of his social media team.

A report in the social media space had claimed that Akodu had been given the job of the coordinator of the Buhari Media Centre.

But the youths in a press release issued in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday, described Buhari’s choice as a stranger in the APC in Ekiti State and wondered how those in charge of Buhari Media Centre would do such a thing without contacting the publicity secretary of the party in the state.

In the statement signed jointly by Mr. Tope Ogunkuade and Comrade Tunji Adeleye, EAYC convener and secretary respectively, they said the development was “an affront on youths in the party to be neglected for someone like Akodu, who is a federal civil servant and his wife a civil servant in Ekiti State.”

According to them, “those in charge of the Buhari Media Centre in Abuja should have contacted the State Publicity Secretary of APC, High Chief Taiwo Olatunbosun for the nomination of a committed party member instead of placing a non-party member above youths who have labored day and night, promoting and defending the president on social media.”

The APC youths have therefore called on the state publicity secretary to write officially to the president to reject the engagement of Akodu as coordinator for the Buhari Media Centre and also vowed to mobilise youths in the party to avoid working under him.
