EKITI GOV POLL: Defeated at primary, Adeyeye dumps PDP

Former national publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Dayo Adeyeye, has dumped the party apparently to continue his governorship ambition.

Adeyeye’s dumping of PDP came barely 48 hours after he was beaten to the party governorship ticket in Ekiti state by incumbent deputy governor, Professor Kolapo Olusola.

The state Governor Ayodele Fayose had anointed Olusola to be his successor ahead of the primary, a development Adeyeye supposed led to his loss of the primary election.

Addressing his supporters on Thursday, at his campaign office, the former PDP spokesman hinted that he was done with the PDP, but said that he was yet to take a decision on the next political platform to continue his political ambition with.

Signs that the much-touted peaceful outcomes of the Ekiti gubernatorial primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may be rocked emerged Thursday.

Ripples Nigeria had reported how Governor Ayo Fayose had alleged that Prince Dayo Adeyeye, rained curses on him over the phone.

Fayose claimed that Adeyeye’s conduct occurred when he called to encourage him to accept the outcomes of the gubernatorial primaries in good faith. The governor’s remark were made Wednesday while fielding questions in the course of a programme anchored by the State’s radio and television stations in Ado-Ekiti.

A statement on Thursday credited to Fayose’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi, quoted the governor as saying that he had twice called Adeyeye on the outcome of the primary election.

“I called Prince Adeyeye twice and on each occasion, he rained curses on me and would not even listen to what I had to say. He said I should never call him again. I am not afraid of the curses because I know I have not done anything to warrant that or for the curses to have any effect on me.

Ekiti governorship election is slated to hold on July 14, 2018.
