El Classico: Madrid hold Barca to a 1-1 draw at Camp Nou

The long-awaited tie between Spanish giants cum super rivals, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, ended 1-1, as Luis Suarez’s goal that set Barcelona’s chances of winning the first leg of El Clasico was snatched away by a late equaliser from Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos.

Suarez scored at the 53rd minute to put his side ahead in the game. It was Neymar’s cross that was whipped in from a free-kick that found the head of Suarez who was able to simply nod past Keilor Navas from close range.

But with just minutes remaining, Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane sent in Ramos into attack, perhaps in a desperate bid to snatch an unlikely away draw and the substitution paid off when Modric free-kick was headed by him to past Marc-André ter Stegen.

Currently, however, Real Madrid remains at the top of the league table with 34points, while Barcelona is placed second with 28points.
