Veteran goalkeeper, Essam El Hadary, is a major injury doubt for Egypt in Friday’s AFCON 2017 qualifier against Nigeria in Kaduna, as he appears to be nursing a knee injury and did not take part in his team’s training at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium.

El Hadary was not part of Thursday evening’s training and even had to be injected by the team doctor right inside the pitch.

The injury appears to be very serious as the vastly experienced goalkeeper was downcast and wept openly.

He had a heavy bandage around the affected right knee.

The 43-year-old El Hadary won three straight AFCONs with Egypt, in 2006, 2008 and 2010.

Meanwhile, CSKA Moscow striker, Aaron Samuel is the latest injury worry for Nigeria after he limped out of a tactical training session Thursday evening in Kaduna.

However, it is left to be seen if the big striker could shrug off this knock in time for the match against Egypt Friday evening
