ELECTIONS: Omo-Agege records another victory
A petition challenging the emergence of Ovie Omo-Agege in the last general elections as the Delta Central senator has been dismissed.
The Delta State Election Tribunal sitting in Asaba sacked the petition on Saturday.
A three-man panel of the tribunal, led by Justice Abdullahi Abubakar had in their ruling said that the petitioner failed to adduce evidence to prove allegations against the senator.
It added that the petition was “infected with the cancer of defectiveness.”
A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Evelyn Oboro had approached the tribunal and asked it to nullify Omo-Agege’s victory based on alleged disqualification and non-compliance to the provisions of the 2010 Electoral Act as amended.

But Justice Abubakar maintained that the petition lacked in merit, hence, the tribunal dismissed it in its entirety.
Omo-Agege is currently the deputy president of the Nigerian Senate. He was once accused of masterminded the embarrassing invasion of the 8th Senate by thugs, who stole the lawmakers’ mace.
