President Donald Trump’s Secretary of Health and Human Services, Tom Price, has resigned amid scandal of flying costly taxpayer-funded private jets on government assignments.

“Secretary of Health and Human Services Thomas Price offered his resignation earlier today and the President accepted”, White House press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders confirmed in a statement.

In his resignation letter, Price cited wanting to avoid being a distraction to the accomplishment of the health policy targets of the administration as his main reason for resigning.

He said, “I regret that the recent events have created a distraction from these important objectives.

“Success on these issues is more important than any one person. In order for you to move forward without further disruption, I am officially tendering my resignation as the Secretary of Health and Human Services effective 11:59 PM on Friday, September 29, 2017”.

This development also follows the latest collapse of effort to repeal and replace Obamacare by the Trump administration, led by Price, and some Republicans in Congress.

Price leaves without any significant accomplishment and Trump will now be forced to find a replacement for him who would be able to lead efforts on health reform which is a central part of his stated policy priorities.
