Justice Ngozi Emehelu has been confirmed as the substantive Chief Judge (CJ) of the Enugu state, following the State House of Assembly approval of her appointment.

Emehelu has been the acting CJ of the state for two and half months but was confirmed as the state CJ on Friday during plenary of the legislators where she appeared.

Chief Ikechukwu Ezugwu during the plenary moved a motion for the legislators to confirm her as the substantive CJ and the Deputy Leader, Mrs Onyinye Ugwu, representing Enugu South Rural State Constituency, seconded the motion for the confirmation.

The House Speaker, Chief Edward Ubosi, declared her the substantive chief judge of the state, after a voice vote.
Her appointment was as a result of the sacking of her predecessor, Justice Innocent Umezulike, who was recommended for expulsion by National Judicial Commission (NJC).
