Enugu orders closure of schools over Coronavirus

The Enugu State Government on Thursday ordered the closure of public and private schools in the state as a precautionary measure to curb the spread of Coronavirus in the country.

The order takes effect from March 27.

A statement signed by the Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Prof. Simon Uchenna Ortuanya, urged teachers and students to continue observing the School Water Sanitation and Hygiene Programme (WASH) and other measures to prevent the COVID-19 infection.

The statement read:

“The state government further enjoined teachers and students to continue to observe the School Water Sanitization and Hygiene Programme (WASH) operative in the state as well as other standard personal hygiene protocol for prevention of COVID-19 infection.”

At least 14 states including Lagos, Ogun, Kwara, Kano, and Kaduna had ordered the closure of schools in their domains in a bid to halt the spread of Coronavirus in the country.
