Enugu Rangers unveil Ogunbote as coach

Former Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, Enugu Rangers, have officially unvieled Gbenga Ogunbote as the new head coach ahead of the 2017/18 season.

Ogunbote’s new appointment follows the expiration of his contract with Enyimba FC of Aba, a club he led to a third-place finish last season.

He was unveiled at an elaborate ceremony at the Enugu State Government House on Wednesday which had the state governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in attendance.

“Welcome to the #RangersIntFC family Gbenga Ogunbote our new Head Coach and Technical Adviser #WelcomeOgunbote,” the Flying Antelopes tweeted on Wednesday afternoon.

Having had a successful stint at Sunshine Sunshine Stars, a team he led to the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup, Ogunbote remains one of the most experienced coaches in the league.

The former Shooting Stars and Giwa FC boss is replacing Sylvanus Okpalla whose two-monthmanagerial role with Rangers has come to an end.

And his immediate task will be to revive the fortunes of 2016 Champions, as they performed below expectations in both domestic and continental competitions last season.
