Argentina forward, Sergio Aguero scored a hat-trick to help Manchester City regain second spot in the Premier League after a vital win over Arsenal on Sunday.

It was Aguero’s 10th in the Premier League for Manchester City, and only Alan Shearer (11) has more in the competition’s history.

Spurs had climbed to second after their win over Newcastle United, but City’s 3-1 victory over the Gunners saw them regain second spot, cutting down Liverpool’s lead to two points.

In the game played at the Etihad Stadium, Super Eagles forward, Alex Iwobi started for Arsenal and was subbed off in the 66th minute for Aaron Ramsey.

Aguero opened the scoring in the first minute but Arsenal drew level in the 11th minute via a Laurent Koscielny goal, before a second-half double for Aguero finished the visitors.

“It is important to realise what we have to do to win the games, be at our best for 90 minutes,” said City boss, Pep Guardiola, whose side lost 2-1 to Newcastle last week.

“We are good when we do what we have to do. I did not have any doubts in the three years I am here.”

On Aguero’s goal scoring, he said: “He was born with that talent, he will die with that talent.”

Leaders Liverpool will pay visit to West Ham United on Monday night as the race for the Premier League title continues.
