EPL: Antonio Conte amazed at Chelsea’s unbeaten run
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has admitted that he didn’t expect his side to win nine games in a row in the Premier League campaign because of the competitiveness among teams in the English league.
The Italian came to Chelsea this season and has had a rather good start in the club with his 3-4-3 formation that has helped his side to the top of the league table, 3 points clear of second-placed Arsenal.
When the Blues boss, who won the EPL Best Coach for the month of November, was asked if he thought Chelsea could pull something like this off, he said: “I must be honest, no – not because I don’t believe in my team, but (because) this league is so difficult.”

As the Premier league approaches the busy period of Christmas, the Blues are to face Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Stoke City before the year ends. They will be playing last-placed Sunderland this Wednesday, but Conte is not getting complacent regardless of his side’s recent performance in the league.
He added: “If you look at the last five games you can see Sunderland is fifth. For this reason, we must pay attention.
“We work very hard to face this Christmas period. Now it’s important to start in the right way.”
Conte’s men are the current leaders of the English Premier League with 37 points, while Sunderland are currently on the 20th position with 11 points, having won only 3 games since the beginning of the campaign.
