EPL best tackler, Ndidi shifts focus to AFCON after helping Leicester finish 9th

Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi says Nations Cup on his mind after the Premier League ended on Sunday, with Leicester finishing 9th on the log.

The 22-year old has been impressive at the club as he featured in all 38 games in the league this season.

Ndidi, who finished the season as the best tackler in the Premier League with 144 tackles, was subbed off in the second half in their final game of the season on Sunday.

They were held to a goalless draw by Chelsea in the game played at the King Power Stadium.

“Season done, thank you for all your incredible support. Unto the next. AFCON preparations,” Ndidi wrote beneath a picture post of himself on Instagram.

The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is billed to hold between June 21 and July 19 in Egypt.

Nigeria and 23 other teams have already discovered their group stage opponents, and preparations are in top gear ahead of the flagship continental competition.

The Super Eagles will kickoff preparations when their camp opens in Asaba, Delta state on June 2nd, 2019.

They heave been scheduled to play a pre-tournament friendly game with the Warriors of Zimbabwe on June 8th at the Stephen Keshi stadium in Asaba.

Also on the road to the tournament, the Eagles will take on Africa’s number one –ranked team, Senegal on June 16th.

Drawn in Group B, Nigeria will kick off their campaign against Burundi on June 22nd before battling Guinea and Madagascar – their other group foes – on later dates.
