Chelsea ended a five-match winless run in the Premier League as they sealed a 2-0 victory over Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.

Kai Havertz scored the opener from close range in the 16th minute before Mason Mount curled in fine second on 24 minutes to seal the win.

Christian Pulisic saw an effort ruled out after Havertz was judged to have fouled Adam Smith, as Chelsea missed other opportunities.

The Blues had failed to score in three consecutive matches prior to the break for the World Cup but they got off to a brilliant start to the restart of the league.

The result sees Chelsea move up to eighth in the table, six points adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham with Bournemouth remaining in 14th.

Meanwhile, the hosts had Reece James injured seven minutes into the second period, on his return from the knee injury that ruled him out of England squad for the just-concluded World Cup.
