EPL: Fellaini heads Man Utd past Arsenal; City thrash West Ham

Belgium international, Marouane Fellaini scored in injury time to help Manchester United seal a 2-1 victory over Arsenal in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Super Eagles Alex Iwobi was on from the start for Arsenal, as United seal next season’s UEFA Champions League spot with the victory.

The game also marked Arsene Wenger’s last visit to Old Trafford as the Frenchman has announced he will leaving Arsenal at the end of the season.

Wenger was applauded by the fans at the Stadium and presented with a gift by former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson on the pitch just before kick-off.

The home side went ahead in the first 16 minutes by Paul Pogba who stabbed home after a header from Alexis Sanchez was knocked on to the post by Hector Bellerin.

United lost striker Romelu Lukaku to injury early in the second half before Arsenal leveled just minutes after by Henrikh Mkhitaryan with a low strike against his former club.

The crowd thought the game was going to end a goal apiece but were stunned in the 91st minute when Fellaini flicked a header past Gunners goalkeeper David Ospina after being set up by Ashley Young.

The Red Devils will play Brighton next, while Arsenal will face Atletico Madrid in the second leg of their Europa League semifinal tie.

Earlier on Sunday, Premier League champions, Manchester City thrashed relegation threatened West Ham 4-1 to add to their number of goals this season.

Leroy Sane, Grabriel Jesus and Raheem sterling scored for City plus an own goal by Pablo Zabaleta. Aaron Cresswell scored a freekick for West Ham.

Pep Guardiola’s men have now scored 102 EPL goals this season and are now one goal shy of Chelsea’s record of 103 goals scored in a season.

The victory was also their 30th win of the season which equals another Chelsea record set last season.

They host Huddersfield Town next Sunday at the Etihad.
