EPL: Iwobi subbed on in Everton win at Southampton; Sheffield hold spurs

Super Eagles forward, Alex Iwobi played a substitute role for Everton in the Toffees’ 2-1 victory at Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.

Iwobi, making his 110th Premier League appearance, played for just 26 minutes and helped his team claim their first away win since the start of the season.

The result sees Marco Silva’s side climb up from 17th to 13th, while Saints remain in bottom three.

Everton got ahead early when Tom Davies headed in from close range after Mason Holgate diverted Gylfi Sigurdsson’s corner back across goal.

Danny Ings equalised, tapping in from a yard out in the 50th minute, before Richarlison scored the winner to hand Southampton their sixth defeat in seven matches.

In the other Premier League games played concurrently, Tottenham Hotspur were held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Sheffield United, Newcastle United beat Bournemouth 2-1, while Burnley thrashed West Ham 3-0.
