Man Utd vs Southampton

Jannik Vestergaard’s towering header rescued 10-man Southampton as they held Manchester United to a 1-1 draw in the English Premier League on Saturday.

United new boy Daniel James had put the visitors ahead in the 10th minute and his effort looked to have put his side on course for victory at St Mary’s.

It was his third Premier League goal in four appearances with the Red Devils, having joined the side at the start of the season.

The hosts, however, gained momentum in the second half as a disappointing United side grew increasingly sloppy, and Vestergaard levelled on 58 minutes.

Saints were reduced to 10 men in the 73rd minute when Kevin Danso was sent off for a crude lunge at Scott McTominay when he was already on a yellow card.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side piled up pressure on their hosts in the final minutes with the hopes of finding a winner, but were kept out as keeper Angus Gunn.

United are with only one win from four league games, and they host Leicester City on Saturday August 14 in their next league game at the Old Trafford.
