EPL: Top four race continues as Arsenal thump Stoke

As the race for a spot in next seasons’s Champions League continues in the English Premier League, Arsenal secured a comfortable victory at Stoke City on Saturday to move within a point of fourth-placed Liverpool.

The Gunners took the lead with a well-crafted move as Hector Bellerin picked out Olivier Giroud for an easy tap-in to an open net minutes before half time.

About ten minute into the second half, Alexis Sanchez combined with Mesut Ozil, who coolly tucked home a finish to double their lead.

Stoke’s Peter Crouch converted Marko Arnautovic’s cross into the net with his hand on 67 minutes to give some hope to the hosts, but Sanchez drilled in a low finish 9 minutes later and Giroud slid in his second in the game much later.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool have two games remaining and are level on goal difference at +29.

The Jurgen Klopp’s men will play West Ham on Sunday, and play Middlesbrough on the last day of the season, while Arsenal will host Sunderland on Tuesday and Everton in their final league match next weekend.
