The eight-year-old male leopard was spotted strolling inside the Vibgyor International school when the chase to capture it started.

After a long chase which saw six people getting seriously hurt, the leopard was eventually tranquillised and taken away by officials of a nearby zoo.

According to senior police official S Boralingaiah, the attempt to capture the leopard was a big struggle.

“It was a long struggle to capture the leopard. Although it was injected with tranquilisers it could be captured only
around 20.15 local time when the medication took full effect”.

India’s leopard population is estimated by a wildlife census to have between 12,000 and 14,000 wild cats.
