Europa League: Ronaldo scores as Man Utd win in Tiraspol

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first-ever Europa League goal as he helped Manchester United seal a 2-0 victory over Sheriff Tiraspol on matchday two.

The victory was United’s first win of the Europa League season, after they suffered a shock 1-0 defeat in the first game against Real Sociedad at Old Trafford.

Against Sheriff, Ronaldo scored the 699th club goal of his career and it was also his first goal of the season.

The Red Devils opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Jadon Sancho scored from Christian Eriksen’s reverse pass.

United went on to double their advantage before half-time courtesy of Ronaldo’s penalty, awarded after Patrick Kpozo tripped Diogo Dalot in the box.

In the other game of the group, Real Sociedad defeated Omonia Nicosia 2-1 to remain at the top of the group with six points from two games.
