Ex-Anambra Chief Judge joins APGA, says Nigeria due for Igbo President

The former Chief Judge of Anambra, Justice Peter Umeadi, has decided to engage in partisan politics. This is as he, on Wednesday, joined the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in his Nri ward two in Anaocha area of the state.

APGA Chairman, Nri Ward 2, Chief S. A. Egolum, expressed delight that the legal luminary had joined politics and assured him that he would have all rights and privileges for members in the party.

While giving reason for his decision, Umeadi explained that he wants to keep his brain active, adding that any person who retired and gone to sleep ended up having his brain asleep.

The ex-CJ went on to emphasize the need for an Igbo man to be given the opportunity to be Nigeria’s president.

In his words: ”It is only when an Igbo man is allowed to be in charge of Nigeria for eight years that things will get better.

“Igbos have the highest investment in Nigeria, and Nigerians must support them in their presidential bid in 2023 if things must move well,” he said.

Umeadi had retired as CJ on March 1, 2019 and was recently announced a law professor by the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN). Shortly after his retirement, a female justice, Ijem Onwuamaegbu took over his former position.
