Ex-Gov Mimiko joins presidential race

Former governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko, has declared his intention to run for office of president in the forthcoming 2019 elections.

He will be running on the platform of the Labour Party (LP).

He spoke at the National Secretariat of the party in Abuja, on Thursday.

He stated that he was standing up to task as a patriot given the state of the nation.

“I have found it compelling to declare my intention to run for president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.

The former governor who lamented the spate of killings in different parts of the country especially the Middle Belt also noted that purposeful leadership was required to halt the carnage.
