A Court ruling in an alleged fraud case of N1.64 billion involving a former governor of Taraba State, Jolly Nyame, has landed the politician on the bad side of the history books.

A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Wednesday sentenced the former governor to 14 years in prison without an option of fine.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had leveled a 41-count charge bordering on diversion of N1.64 billion while Nyame served as governor of Taraba State between 1999 to 2007. And of the 41 counts, the former governor was found guilty in 27 of the counts

The trial judge, Justice Adebukola Banjoko, upon establishing that the defendant was guilty of receiving gratification, obtaining public funds without due consideration, criminal breach of trust and gratification, sentenced him to four different terms in prison.
