In this life teaching story, it proves that you can never make too much money. Or that you can never make too much money that you cannot blow it.

Antoine Walker is an ex-NBA star who toed the footsteps of bankrupted stars to blow a whopping sum of $108 million he made during the 12 years of his sterling career.

Walker’s financial crash was so sudden that a documentary was made of it in “Gone In An Instant: Antoine Walker’s Story”

Growing up in Chicago, Antoine Walker’s family didn’t have much. His rapid rise as a basketballer brought good things of life to his family and not refusing them anything and his expensive lifestyle contributed majorly to his financial downfall. Antoine was gracious enough to detail how he blew his life savings.

Looking back at his rise and fall, Walker admits that the situation is “sad.” “I thought I was set for the rest of my life,’ he said while speaking with CNMoney. “My story is sad. It’s sad to see other guys work hard throughout their life – and then they lose it in two or three years.

“I created a very expensive lifestyle. That’s how you lose your wealth real bad at the beginning. I gave them whatever they wanted and spoiled them. You can’t do that,” the 38-year-old said. “I ended up being an open ATM throughout my career.”

Walker’s financial trouble continued as he ended up charged with felony in 2009 for writing bad checks to pay for more than $800,000 in Las Vegas gambling debts. Before this, he had wanted to make positive financial investments by launching into his own real estate firm.

“We had a ton of undeveloped real estate. It went bad,’ he said. “The bank wanted their money back.”

Walker has managed to climb out of his bankruptcy and is hoping young athletes will learn from his mistakes. “Live life to the fullest, but think about the future” he advised.
