Expert tasks government on drug abuse awareness

Published

on

Resident doctor at Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Yaba, Dr Raliat Akerele has called on government to take enlightenment campaign on the dangers of drug abuse to schools across the country.

“Enlightenment campaigns should be taken to primary, secondary schools up to tertiary level, as the task of sensitizing the youth on the dangers of drug abuse should not be left to parents alone. We discovered that 12 years old take codeine.

We should also talk about prevention.

Establishment of treatment facilities for substance use in different parts of the country is important.”
