Explosion at Istanbul Airport kills 28

The Ataturk Airport in Istanbul, Turkey came under the attack of three suicide bombers who struck unexpectedly leaving at least 28 people dead and 60 others wounded.

‎Eyewitnesses say the three suicide bombers engaged security operatives at the airport in a gun duel before they blew themselves up one after the other.

Moments after the attack, the governor of Istanbul,Vasip Sahin, issued as statement saying investigations are still ongoing to uncover the links of the attackers.

“According to initial assessments 28 people have lost their lives, some 60 people have been taken to hospitals. Our detailed inspections are continuing in all aspects,” Sahin said.

Hard stance Turkish leader, Recep Tayyip Erdogan also issued a statement calling for a “joint effort” in the fight against terrorism.

“If states, as all humanity, fail to join forces and wage a joint fight against terrorist organisations, all the possibilities that we dread in our minds will come true one by one,” he said.
