Falana condemns DSS raid on SERAP’s office, says it’s abuse of power
Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and prominent human rights lawyer, has denounced the recent unlawful raid by the Department of State Services (DSS) on the Abuja office of the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP).
On Monday, SERAP alerted the public via its official X handle, reporting that DSS operatives had taken over its Abuja office. The organization called on President Bola Tinubu to instruct the DSS to halt the harassment, intimidation, and attacks on the rights of Nigerians.
In response, Falana issued a statement condemning the raid, describing it as an abuse of power. He called on the Federal Government to identify and prosecute those responsible for the invasion.

“I condemn the invasion of SERAP’s office,” Falana said.
“The Tinubu government must urgently identify the officers responsible for this act in the name of the government. Anyone found to be accountable for the invasion must face prosecution. The government must ensure that human rights defenders can perform their duties freely, in accordance with the Nigerian Constitution.”
