Falconets arrive France for FIFA world Cup

Nigeria women’s national U-20 football team, the Falconets, have arrived France, venue for the FIFA U-20 women’s World Cup, which kicks off on Sunday.

The team, led by coach Christopher Danjuma, and other officials checked into their base in Saint Malo on Thursday night.

They have been preparing for the tournament in a camp in Austria, and will kick off their campaign with a crucial match against Germany on Monday.

They will later face Haiti and China in their other Group D encounters on August 9th and 13th respectively, with the hope of advancing to the next round.

The Falconets are making their 9th appearance at the 9th edition of the biennial international women’s youth football championship.

They have reached the final twice – in the 2010 and 2014 editions.

This year’s showpiece will run from August 5 to 24.
