Family cries for justice as man dies in NSCDC custody

The family of one Razak Ahmed called on the government on Tuesday to order an investigation into the alleged killing of their son who was in the custody of the Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

It was gathered that Razak was arrested by NSCDC personnel on Sunday for allegedly sleeping with his 12-year-old daughter at the Aule area of Akure.

“It was one of his daughters from another wife, who reported the case at the NSCDC station in Akure on Sunday; so, he was beaten to death by the men of the NSCDC today,” a source revealed on Tuesday.

The younger sister of the deceased, Mrs Taiwo who alleged that Razak was beaten to death with sticks called on the government and human rights organisations to assist the family to get justice.

“It was one of his daughters that lied against him at the NSCDC station and he was arrested and taken to their office.

“In the cell, the NSCDC personnel started beating him with sticks because he told them that he did not commit the offence. The torture was too much and he gave up the ghost and his corpse was taken to the mortuary by the NSCDC personnel” he said.

However, efforts made by Journalists to reach out to the Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC in the command, Mr Samuel Oladipo proved abortive as he did not pick calls made to his phone, neither did he reply text messages as of the time of filing the report.
