Famous Quranic reciter, 5 others abducted in Katsina

The Police in Katsina State has confirmed the abduction of a popular Kano-based Quranic reciter, Sheikh Ahmad Sulaiman in the state.

Sulaiman was kidnapped alongside five others on Thursday along Sheme-Kankara road, on their way back to Kano State after attending an Islamic event in Kebbi State.

The Vice Chairman, Council of Ulamahs and Imams in Katsina, Surajo Mahmud Kankia also confirmed this development during the Friday Jumaat mosque prayer.

Gambo Isah, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) confirmed the abduction of the Islamic Leader and others to newsmen on Friday in katsina.

Isah maintained that, the men of the command were already on the tail of the kidnappers with a view to rescuing the victims.

He however urged the general public to continue to provide the police command with necessary information on criminal and their activities to safeguard peoples’ lives and property.

Sheikh Sulaiman is one of the famous reciters of the Holy Quran in the country who usually recites the Quran during preaching of the Jama’atu Izalatul Bid’ah Wa’ikamatus Sunnah, JIBWIS programmes.
