Men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) arrested a 41-year-old man identified as Alhaji Kasali Mumuni, 41, for inflicting hot knife wounds on two of his kids Maryam, 9, and Ojonla, 6.

Reports say hell was let loose when Kasali who has been married thrice but none of his wives stayed with him for more than three years before they were sent packing, returned home to find out that the only fish left in the pot of soup was eaten by his kids.

The kids confessed to have eaten half of the fish and also informed when they were being questioned by their father that the other half was eaten by their step mother (who has no kids for their father) but when recounting her story, the stepmom denied eating the other half, prompting Kasali to descend on his kids.

According to Maryam, their father beat them up mercilessly and not done with the beatings, he went straight into the kitchen, lit the stove, and put a knife on it.

“When the knife was hot and turned red, he pressed it on our stomachs one after the other. We cried and begged but our father refused to remove the knife,” Maryam said.

Continuing, she added that; “Our neighbors, who heard our cries, rushed to the scene only to be told by our father that they should mind their businesses.

“He held us down for several minutes as the knife was pressed on our stomachs”.

Maryam said but for the intervention of neighbors who later informed officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) who rushed to the scene and rescued them, the injury inflicted on them by their father could have been more.

“We were taken to the State Hospital, Akure by the officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps who later reported informed the Welfare Department of the state Ministry of Women Affairs”.

The suspect according to an official of the NSCDC who confirmed the incident, is still being quizzed and would be promptly prosecuted after investigations into the matter was completed.
