Edo, Ekiti, two others to acquire Nigerian government's 40% stake in power firm

The Governor of Ekiti State Kayode Fayemi has supported the move by Prof. Kolapo Olusola-Eleka, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the July 14, 2018 governorship election in Ekiti State to further contest his (Fayemi’s) victory at the polls.

Governor Fayemi who was speaking in Ado Ekiti on Friday during a programme tagged “Meet Your Governor”, said Eleka and the PDP were free to challenge his victory at the Supreme Court, in spite of his readiness to entertain contributions from the main opposition party.

He also said during the radio programme that he never regarded the defeated PDP candidate, Prof. Olusola-Eleka as an enemy.

Fayemi said; “I have never seen Prof Olusola Eleka as an enemy, but I have been seeing him as a co- contestant, so we won’t shy from approaching him to seek his advice on any issue we feel he could be of help for smooth running of our government.

”But this should not be misinterpreted to mean that we are trying to prevent him from seeking justice up to the supreme court; he is free to challenge us.

“The Appeal Court, on Thursday delivered its judgment, declaring that PDP has no evidence of rigging against us, so we are not afraid of being challenged.”

Olusola-Eleka is making the move to contest Fayemi’s victory at the Supreme Cout after he rejected the judgement of the Court of Appeal in a suit he instituted challenging the victory of the Governor.

The PDP candidate while reacting to Thursday’s Court of Appeal judgement which affirmed Fayemi as the duly elected governor of Ekiti State, expressed regrets at the manner in which the Appeal Court dismissed his appeal, saying that it suggested that “our democracy is endangered”.
