Fayose calls out Buhari supporters on right thing to do

Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has said that all the politicians and others who brought President Muhammadu Buhari into power must seek for repentance from God.

According to him, the people who voted Buhari to emerge as Nigeria’s president had thought that he will make a difference, but that on the contrary, Buhari has caused more economic hardship, worse state of unemployment and corruption in the country.

Fayose stated this on Monday during a meeting of the Osoko Mass Movement (OMM), which was attended by representatives of labour unions, civil servants and public institutions in the state.

“People that voted Buhari must seek repentance. People thought he was coming to make a difference but he has caused more economic hardship. We are being ruled by fiat. Unemployment is second to none. The Transparency International said corruption had become worse among Nigerians,” he said.

The governor used the meeting to canvass for support for his deputy, Professor Kolapo Olusola, as the next governor of the state.

Fayose said, “If you say I’m not educated, now I have presented a professor. We are not supposed to retrogress, we should progress. A professor is higher than a doctor and supervises him. By all standard, I’m presenting the most suitably qualified aspirant.

He also said that the state has not benefitted in any way from the All Progressives Congress (APC) led Federal Government regardless of the fact that a former governor of the state, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, is the Minister of Mines and Steel Development.

“There are many mineral deposits in Ekiti which have been left untapped despite our son being the Minister of Mines and Steel Development,” the governor added.
