Fazed by renewed bombings, Kachikwu begs militants

Worried over recent bombings of oil and gas facilities in the Niger Delta, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, has appealed to militants to give dialogue a chance.

It would be recalled that militants in the oil rich region resumed attacks on oil facilities immediately after President Muhammadu Buhari’s meeting with elders and leaders from the region under the auspices of Pan Niger Delta Dialogue Team.

According to Kachikwu, recent developments are sad considering the personal and collective efforts that have been made to engage stakeholders from the region.

The minister stated this in a statement issued by the spokesperson of the petroleum ministry, Mr. Idang Alibi, on Friday in Abuja, adding that despite the renewed attacks, the path to lasting solution to the crisis in the region could only come through dialogue.

He however vowed that he and other ministers from the region would not give up on their commitment to ensure that peace return to the region under the mandate given them by President Muhammadu Buhari despite the fact that they are distraught with the continual attacks.
