BUHARI: Fayose stands by life support claim, despite proof of improved health

Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has called on the immediate past governor of the state and current Minister of Steel and Solid Mineral Development, Dr Kayode Fayemi, to appear for probe and stop running from a law he was signatory to.

The government of Ekiti State has set up a commission of Enquiry to probe the financial transactions of the state during the period Fayemi was governor.

But instead of appearing before the panel, Fayemi is said to have instituted a suit seeking to stop his probe by the panel.

In his reponse to Fayemi’s action, Governor Fayose in a statement on Wednesday in Ado Ekiti, wondered how Fayemi could be running away from the law he sponsored and signed when he was the state governor.

“The law that the House of Assembly relied on to mandate the state government to set up the panel was signed by Fayemi himself and he has gone to court to challenge the same ‎when he has been asked to give account of his stewardship.

“During my inauguration speech, I gave details of the debt profile of the state. Fayemi took N25billion bond and N31billion commercial loans. The Securities and Exchange Commission ‎(SEC) were the facilitators and they wrote to me to ask if the projects, for which the loans taken, were executed and I said no,” Fayose said.
