FEC earmarks N9.2bn for model schools, roads, HIV/AIDs control

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the sum of N9.2 billion for the construction of seven model schools in each zone of the country including the FCT, as well as the supply of Anti-Retroviral Drugs to treat HIV/AIDS patients.

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, disclosed this at a media briefing after the council’s meeting, which ran late into the night on Thursday.

The FEC meeting was presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo at the State House, Abuja.

Mohammed, said the model schools, which will cost N4.6 bn, would be sited in the Federal Capital Territory, Katsina (North-west); Nasarawa, Bauchi, Imo, Lagos and Edo.

Another contract worth over N3bn was also approved for the FCT for sewage design and construction.

N1.6bn was also earmarked for the National Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS for the procurement of anti-retroviral drugs, among others.
