Femi Kuti breaks world saxophone record (Video)

A week after breaking the supposed 45mins 37 seconds record set by Kenny G in 1997 with his 46mins 38secs performance at the New Africa Shrine, Femi Kuti has set a new world record.

Femi’s initial exploits was witnessed by scores of watchers about seven days ago, who thronged the New Africa Shrine including the deputy high commissioners of Netherlands and The United Kingdom as well as Senator Ben Murray-Bruce.

However, Kenny G’s 45 minutes and 37 seconds record broken by Femi’s 46mins 38secs was believed to be the world record until it was confirmed not to be as there was another record at 47 minutes 05 seconds set by another saxophonist.

However, on Sunday night at the New Africa Shrine, Femi (55) made a second attempt to beat the known world record and he did just that by setting a new one, playing the saxophone on a single note for 51 minutes 35 seconds.
