FG queries NBC over shooting of Big Brother Naija in SA

An inquiry into the shooting of the second edition of Big Brother Naija has been ordered by the Federal Government after it directed the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to investigate the circumstances surrounding the reported staging of the reality TV show in South Africa.

The directive was issued to the NBC through a statement by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed to determine whether Multi-Choice, has breached the Nigerian Broadcasting Code by shooting the show which will run for 78-days in South Africa.

”As a country of laws, only the outcome of the investigation will determine our next line of action,” the minister said in the statement.

The minister also called for calm while the NBC investigates the issue and submits its findings after he revealed that concerned Nigerians have been inundating him with calls over the matter which they regard as an anomaly.

Hours after the housemates were unveiled, it was discovered that the show was not being staged in Nigeria and that prompted a tirade of some sort by Nigerians on social media at the organisers of the Big Brother reality TV series.

Nigerians are not comfortable that the reality TV show is being staged outside the country especially after it was also learnt that the maiden edition of the ‘The Voice Nigeria’ (another reality TV show) was also shot and staged in South Africa.
