FG’s N22.8bn debt impeding project execution in Enugu – Commissioner
Enugu State has appealed to the Federal Government to refund the N22.8 billion it spent to rehabilitate federal roads and other projects in the state.
In a passionate appeal to the federal authorities, the state government said that the non-remittance of the money was impeding the execution of ongoing projects and initiating new ones by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
The state government however reassured the people that despite the challenges, it would continue to strive to provide critical infrastructure to improve on their wellbeing.
In an interview with The AUTHORITY, the state Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Patrick Ikpenwa, said that the Federal Government’s refund of the money would enable the governor do more for the people.
Ikpenwa said that the debt accrued from federal projects which were executed from the resources of the state government with approval from the Federal Ministry of Works.
