D’Tigers coach, Alex Nwora says he is proud of his team despite their back-to-back defeats at the ongoing FIBA World Cup in China.

The Nigeria men’s Basketball team began their World Cup campaign with a disappointing loss to Russia last weekend and still fell to another defeat to Argentina on Monday.

Their hopes of advancing from the group stages are really slim, but Nwora believes his boys are still one of the best teams in Africa with lots of work to do in future.

“I’m proud of these guys. They fought. We’re still one of the best teams in Africa but we haven’t shown it. We will with time. We still have a lot of work to do,” says Nwora.

D’Tigers will require Korea to defeat Russia when both sides play later on Monday in the group’s other game, to keep their chances of progressing to the Second Round alive.

The 2015 AfroBasket champions will face Korea in their final group game on Wednesday at the Wuhan Sports Centre.
