FIFA rankings: Nigeria now 60th in world, 11th in Africa
The Super Eagles have moved four places from 64th to 60th in the latest FIFA Ranking released on Thursdayfollowing the team’s superlative performance during last month’s World Cup qualifier after defeating Zambia 2-1.
Nigeria also moved from 14th in Africa to 11th after a point increase of 28 from 534 in September to 562 in the latest rankings for October 2016.
Nigeria’s 2018 World Cup qualifier group opponent, Algeria dropped from second to third position on the continent and 35th in the world.

Cote d’Ivoire maintained its top position in Africa, after improving from 34th to 31st position in the ranking. Senegal also moved seven places from 39th to 32nd position, by moving from third to second position on the continent.
Tunisia, Ghana Egypt, Congo DR and Congo followed in that order. Another Nigeria’s 2018 World Cup qualifiers opponents, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon are placed above Nigeria in 59th, while Zambia are in 94th on the ranking table.
The next FIFA/Coca-Cola ranking is expected to be released 24 November, 2016.
