Filmmaker sues Silverbird Cinema N10m over power failure

Nollywood filmmaker Okechukwu Oku has filed a N10 million lawsuit against Silverbird Cinema claiming his agreement with the company was breached due to lack of electricity supply during the premiere of his movie titled ‘The Boss is Mine’.

The filmmaker said all guests invited were seated and ready for the show but waited from 3pm to 9pm on the set date of the movie premiere as the management failed to produce the necessary electricity to power the venue for the cinema.

“I was embarrassed to say the least. Everybody we expected was present. We were all seated by 3pm, expecting the film to come on when the lights went out. When we approached the management of the cinema, they told us that their generator was faulty. This lingered on till 9pm. By then, the guests had left”.

Oku however stated that he decided to seek legal redress because the management of Silverbird Cinema is yet to settle the matter amicably with him.
