Finally, Kogi Governor gets deputy

Published

on

The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, may finally be settling down to governance, as the Kogi State House of Assembly on Tuesday confirmed the nomination of Hon. Simon Achuba as the deputy governor of the state.

Achuba was a former two-time member of the Kogi State House of Assembly and at a point the deputy speaker.

His nomination was unanimously confirmed by members of the house after Hon. Sunday Shugaba moved a motion for his confirmation.
It would be recalled that the running mate to late Abubakar Audu, Hon. James Faleke, rejected being deputy to Bello, who was brought in by the All Progressives Congress, APC, after the demise of Audu, who was the party’s candidate.

Faleke has since gone before the state’s governorship election tribunal, seeking to be declared the authentically elected governor of the state after the death of his boss, Audu.
