Finally, Senate receives 2019 budget report, adjourns till April 24

New Senate bill seeks to tax Nigerians for GSM, cable TV services

The committee on Appropriation on Wednesday plenary finally submitted its report on 2019 budget to the Senate.

The committee had last week failed to meet up with the April 11 deadline given to it by Senate President Bukola Saraki to submit its report on the budget.

The committee was subsequently given till this week to lay the budget before the upper legislative body.

In line with the directive, the chairman of the Appropriation Committee, Senator Danjuma Goje (Gombe Central), laid the budget report before the Senate at about 3.35pm on Wednesday.

Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, thereafter adjourned plenary to Wednesday, April 24 to consider the report.

Meanwhile, the Senate during the day’s plenary passed the Police Reform Bill, 2019.

The bill which is titled, Senate Bill 683, was passed after the third reading.

Senator Tijjanj Kaura (APC-Zamfara North) had presented the report, and it was seconded by Senator Mao Ohuabunwa (PDP-Abia North).
