Financiers of Bola Ige to be identified soon

There are indications that the unresolved murder of a former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Bola Ige may soon be cracked, as the police is moving close to identifying the financiers of the killing.

According to reports, the Special Investigative Team set up by the Inspector General of Police, IGP, to probe the matter is said to be working on unraveling some mystery financiers who provided large sums of cash for the operation at Chief Ige’s Ibadan home.

According to a source close to the investigation, it has been discovered that four days before Ige was murdered, the prime suspects in the murder embarked on a trip to Abuja to collect huge sums of money with which to pay for the operation.

Reports also said two of the suspects in the murder case confessed in their statements that the ‘Ogas’ said they should be given some time to enable them travel to Abuja to get money to sort out the cost of the operation.

“In fact, about four days to the date of Bola Ige’s murder, one of the prime suspects traveled to Abuja for funds. Even during the first encounter, the visit to the palace of the Ooni of Ife, where the cap of Bola Ige was removed and thrown away, the prime suspects had returned from Abuja with cash,” the source said.

The source also disclosed that one of the suspects had let out information about the money because of a disagreement over the sharing formula.

The source, which said none of the suspects has been able to point out the mystery financiers, insisted that the police was now well placed to fish them out with new technology and information being sought.
