Five feared dead, two missing in Burkina Faso church attack

At least five people, including a Senior Pastor, have died and two missing following an attack on a protestant church in Burkina Faso, local sources said on Monday.

According to Aljazeera, the attack took place on Sunday in the small northern town of Silgadji near Djibo, the capital of Soum province.

The attackers reportedly arrived on seven motorbikes at the end of Sunday’s service and killed the pastor, two of his sons and three other worshippers.

Burkina Faso has been plagued by terrorist attacks in recent years.

On 26 April six people, including five teachers, were killed in Maïtaougou, in the country’s eastern region while 35 people were killed in a series of shootings, believed to have been carried out by jihadist extremists in 2018.
