Five kidnapped Chinese nationals, 22 others rescued by the police

Murder suspect arrested after five months on the run

Operatives of the Nigeria Police attached to Operation Puff Ader, have rescued five Chinese nationals and 22 others who were kidnapped in different parts of the country, including Zamfara State.

The kidnapped Chinese nationals, who were said to have been abducted o April 15 in Bobi, Niger state, were rescued on May 5 in Birnin Gwari Forest in Kaduna State.

Speaking on the rescue of the kidnapped victims, the Force Public Relations Officer, FPRO, DCP Frank Mba, said in a statement in Abuja on Thursday that the 22 other kidnap victims were rescued in Zamfara State and other parts of the country.

He also explained that two kidnappers died from injuries sustained during exchange of gunfire with the Police in the course of the rescue mission.

“In addition, between January 2019 and the first week of May, 2019, a total of 270 suspected kidnappers and 275 suspected armed robbers were arrested, while 105 assorted weapons, plus a large cache of ammunition, were recovered,” Mba stated.
