Five years after abduction, police rescue 11-year-old boy in Onitsha

Policemen from the Kano State anti-kidnapping team of Operation Puff Adder have rescued an 11- year-old boy, Mohammed Ya’u, in Onitsha, Anambra State.

The boy was abducted by one Paul Onwe and Mercy Paul in Kano in 2014.

The spokesman of the Kano State Police Command, DSP Abdulahi Haruna, said the boy was abducted five years from the PRP Quarters in Kano.

Ya’u’s rescue brought to 11 the number of children kidnapped from the state that had been rescued in the last few weeks.

Haruna said in a statement that the rescue operation was successfully carried out at Onitsha by the team.

According to him, the victim was sold by Onwe and Paul to one Ebere Ogbodo at the sum of N200,000 and renamed him Chinedu Ogbodo.

He said all the suspects are currently under investigation while efforts are ongoing to recue more kidnapped children in the state.
