Flash floods wipe out 100 people in China

Rescue officials in China say about 100 have been wiped out by flash floods which also destroyed crops planted on more than 1.5 million hectares of land which according to reports sums up to 20 billion yuan (2.2 billion pounds) worth of loss to the Chinese government.
According to reports, the dense downpour claimed 93 lives across 11 provinces and regions and left 19 missing in the past four days, state news agency Xinhua reported late on Monday.
More than a million people have been forced to evacuate their homes and relocate; more so as weather forecasts predicted more downpours during what is traditionally China’s flood season.
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang travelled on Tuesday to Anhui, one of the hardest-hit provinces, where he met residents and encouraged officials to do everything they could to protect lives and livelihoods.
