The High Court of Justice and Magistrate Court in Koton Karfe, Kogi Local Government Area of Kogi State was on Wednesday day sacked from sitting as the area was completely submerged by water overflowing from River Niger.

The flooding, which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, rendered the courts inaccessible.

Chief Judge of Kogi State, Justice Nasiru Ajanah, who was on the spot for an assessment of the premises along Okparakpe Road, ordered the immediate relocation of the High Court of Justice and Magistrate Court.

Justice Ajanah said he would inform the state governor, Yahaya Bello of the incident, noting that flooding had become a recurring incident in the recent past.

He said the relocation of the court was necessary to accelerate the dispensation of justice in the area pending the time the water would recede.

He pointed out that he had earlier informed the the traditional ruler of the town, Ohimege-Igu of Koton-Karfe, His Royal Majesty, Abdulrazaq Isah Koto, over the possibility of relocating the court as a result of incessant flood in the area, adding that he would like to remind him again.
