The Flying Eagles of Nigeria have advanced to the final round of the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers after they edged out Guinea Bissau 1-0 on Sunday.

The game, which is the reverse fixture of the second round tie, held at the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar and saw the Nigerian team go through 3-2 on aggregate.

The only goal of the encounter was scored by Adamu AlHassan who converted from the spot in the 58th minute after Wasiu Aladade was fouled in the penalty box.

Both teams had drawn 2-2 in the first leg a week ago in Guinea Bissau. And the win on Sunday ensured Nigeria now have one more team to beat in order to seal their qualification for the CAF competition.

The Flying Eagles, seven-time African champions, will be up against Mauritania, conquerors of Guinea, in the final qualifying round.

The 2019 U-20 AFCON will hold in Niger Republic early next year.
